Three quite different businesses sit under the cloud computing label in Ireland: engineering firms that build infrastructure as code, managed service providers that keep company IT running, and hosting and colocation operators. The directories list them together. This list keeps them apart by describing what each firm actually does.

What to look for in a cloud partner

  • Engineering, managed service or hosting. Decide which of the three you need. It is the only distinction that matters at the shortlist stage.
  • Named partner status. In a category with almost no reviews, AWS or Citrix partner tiers are the most reliable capability signal available.
  • Who owns the cloud bill. Confirm whether cost monitoring and optimisation are in scope. The platform bill usually dwarfs the agency fee.
  • Longevity. Firms here date from 1985 onwards. For infrastructure you intend to run for years, that continuity is worth something real.

The hourly rates in this category look low compared with development work. They are, because much of it is support rather than engineering. Do not read a low rate as a bargain on a complex migration.

What is the difference between a cloud company and an IT support provider?
A cloud engineering firm designs and builds the infrastructure your software runs on, usually as code. An IT support provider keeps existing systems running and helps your staff use them. Both appear on this list under the same category label, and they are not substitutes.
How much do cloud services cost in Ireland?
Published rates here run from under 25 dollars to 99 dollars an hour, lower than most technology categories. That reflects the mix: managed service and support work prices below project engineering. Note that these rates exclude the cloud platform bill itself, which is usually the larger cost.
Should I use an AWS partner?
